Tim, Gena, Neal & Kathy,

What an outstanding repast last night at the Youth Dinner Theatre.  The salad was a perfect opener; the pork tenderloin was fork-friendly and an outstanding presentation with the grilled pineapple; the wild rice and asparagus and hollandaise sauce were perfect choices; and the desserts were to die for.  The table arrangements, the service, silent auction, and the program were all exceptional.  You all have set a very lofty bar for future events.

Thanks for all that you do for God's Kingdom on earth.

What a wonderful reunion, thanks to Tim and his ServeAll crew.  From start to finish we were treated like royalty as the team personally served us the best catered meal most of us had ever experienced.  A tribute to the food quality and preparation skills is that we ate almost everything.  Don't misunderstand us, there was plenty of variety and quantity - it was just plain "good".  The staff's personal attention to the kids in the group was extraordinary and appreciated by every parent there.

We had a group of 35 hungry people who left the banquet hall happy and satisfied that they had received the best food and service available, anywhere.  We recommend ServeAll to all who want to be served.

Dear Shawn & Tim:

There are not enough words to tell you just how much I appreciate your hard work and participation in our recent Savoir Fair event last month. I'll begin by saying, in the most sincere tone, thank you.

We all experienced a long day, heavy crowds and a hectic pace. As a result of your help, the event ran smoothly and was tremendously successful.

I look forward to us doing more events together in the future. Again, thanks for being a part of Savoir Fair.

Sincerely,
Jim Stout

From New Smyrna Beach Observer: Town ready for a party

Seaside Fiesta has biggest turnout following rainout

BY THOMAS E. TIPTON, Staff Writer

NEW SMYRNA BEACH - The eleventh modern day version of the Seaside Fiesta arrived a week late, but still attracted an elbow-to-elbow crowd along the length of Flagler Avenue.

"There must be 20,000 people here.  We have cars parked across the North Causeway all the way to Food Lion," Steve Dennis, executive vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce, said.

The Seaside Fiesta traditionally opens the summer season in the City.  This year's festival offered food, games, prizes, music, shopping, clowns, face painting, and even a pet sheep.

Mitch Cole, president of the Rotary Club, said. "I remember when the Lions Club sponsored this in the '50s and '60s.  We had big crowds then, but this is the largest crowd I have seen here in a long time."

Asked about the involvement of the Rotary Club in the Fiesta, Cole said, "We use the money for our Scholarship fund. The kids are the future of New Smyrna Beach.  We work with the Little League and soccer, and we have also adopted the Family Rehabilitation Center on Faulkner Street this year.

"Many of us used to help build the booths and the stage for the beauty contest in the Flagler parking lot.  We had a lot of fun back then, but it was worth the effort.  I'm glad the rain last week didn't keep people away this week,"  Dennis said.

Dennis' reference was to the time that area residents joined the Lions Club and built a midway and giant stage in the Flagler Avenue parking lot.  The beauty pageant was important to the city, because the winner represented New Smyrna Beach in many city activities, and also in other events in the area.

The traditional ending to the Seaside Fiesta was the shooting of fire works on the beach in front of the Flagler Boardwalk.  Many old-timers will remember standing on the boardwalk, watching the aerial show.

Robert and Suellen Biferie, new residents of the city, loved the night out on the town.

We haven't been here that long, but I'm glad we moved here.  This is a great event. I love it," Biferie said.

"The Fiesta offers something for everybody.  We have young families, senior citizens, and everything in between. This is great fun for everyone one,"  Adele Hodson, owner of 'Gone Bonkers,' and president of the Flagler Avenue Merchants Association , said.

"It is also great for the non-profit organizations.  They get the chance to let the people know they are here," Hodson said.

The Lions Club challenged expert shooters to knock plastic cylinders off a pedestal with plastic balls, Rotary members gave kids a chance to show their basketball skills, the, New Smyrna Beach High School Junior Smyrna Varsity Cheerleaders spent the evening painting faces with many 'cheerful designs,' and Sissy. the Clown made fancy shapes with balloons.

Music filled the streets as several groups offered a variety of music and the pleasant aroma of food filled the air.

Tim Cranis, "The Sausage Guy," stood behind a grill loaded with sausage and onions.  "This is great. I can't believe all the people that came out for this event. I wish I had the time to talk to more of them, but I'm just too busy. I hope they do this again next year."

"This is phenomenal.  It is lots of fun.  This is the type of celebration that makes you want to live here, and if you don't live here, you want to move here,"Phrieda Tuten said. She and husband Richard moved here 31 years ago.

Festival Food That's Different

By Carole Arthurs
Observer staff

Not the typical art festival food ... not this year!  The Maitland Rotary Art Festival is trying something new this year and they are sure the art festival crowd is just going to love it.  How about Caesar Salad in a Bread Bowl?  Does that tempt your palate?  Would you like a Bloomin' Onion to go with it?  Or Papa John's Pizza?  Or freshly made fajitas? Sound delicious?  There's more!

Tim Cranis of Central Florida Festivals specializes in large events and serves the food out of two large 10 x 20 tents instead of the typical row of food vendors.  "A lady from Tampa makes the Caesar Salads in the bread bowls and another lady from Tampa makes the bloomin' onions with a

special twist of her own," says Cranis.  Plus they will serve the typical fare of funnel cakes, gryos, hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausage with onions and peppers.  There will be a variety of drinks including freshly, squeezed lemonade from Bob's Lemonade and fresh fruit frozen drinks, sno cones for the kids, bottled water and more.

"We will also serve fresh hot coffee and Dunkin Donuts both Saturday and Sunday morning," added Cranis.

Cranis says he likes to give back to the community so members of the Jaycees and Optimist Clubs will man the Coke wagons to receive a percentage of the profits for their clubs.

Cranis has received many letters and awards for his food service.  He has served food at the City of Altamonte Springs community-oriented, Halloween event at Cranes Roost Lake Park and the 42nd Annual Florida Folk Festival in Altamonte Springs.  He received an award of recognition from Secretary of State Jim Smith.

"I'm looking forward to serving the Maitland community at the Maitland Rotary Arts Festival," says Cranis.

In addition to the food from Central Florida Festivals, the Rotary Club will serve their hamburgers and hot dogs again in. the Rotary Tent, manned by Rotary members and their wives.  "This is a husband and wife affair," said Graham Hamilton, chairman of this year's festival. "We all work together for the benefit of the organizations served by the Maitland Rotary."

The Rotary Club will also have beer trucks scattered throughout the Festival for those, thirsty festival attendees.
